Welcome
Once upon a time there was a very stupid man. He was so stupid he knew only those things that enabled him to exist. The stupid man had sons and daughters and they had sons and daughters and with every generation the sons and daughters became less and less stupid. They learned things that enabled them to do more than just exist. Over time, sons and daughters became cleverer and cleverer and eventually made increasingly useful things that, on the surface looked like they would improve the quality of life for all mankind. Finally it began to dawn on these very clever people that whilst these useful things did make some things better for some people for a while, they also had consequences that the clever people hadn’t thought about. They began to realise that cleverness was not enough; that making life easier and more prosperous at the expense of the health and wellbeing of the world and all in it was a poor outcome. The stupid man was too ignorant to realise that he would eventually have the power to destroy all life. Now, very clever men know that they have seriously damaged the world but only time will tell whether they have the strength heal it. |
