My painting begins with a concept or idea that I sense can open up a well-spring of visual possibilities. Using techniques of compositional structure, form and dimension I journey through a process of connection and response to the world that I am creating. This world seems to be in a continual state of flux, of metamorphous, an invention then a reinvention, and a search for that illusive image that will give power and mystery to the painting.

Aesthetics is not the purpose of the work, the motivation comes from the concept. When aesthetics integrates with the concept then it should be relevant to the concept and not an end in itself.
